This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to grow our youth ministry and teams, taking the lead in both youth discipleship and youth evangelism.

Our vision statement for Youth and Kids ministry is ‘Partnering with parents to make young disciples’. We see the parents as the primary disciplers of their children, and the youth and kids’ programmes seek to support and encourage this ministry at home, rather than being a replacement for it.

Our Team
The staff team at St James exists to equip our members, and you would be joining about twelve of us in an enthusiastic and Christ-honouring culture. We work hard, care for each other, have fun, and try to be straightforwardly loving and honest.

We all meet each Tuesday for lunch, bible study, prayer, fellowship and planning. You’ll have been recruited because of your gifts and character, so you won’t be micromanaged, although it will be clear what’s expected of you. You’ll be
encouraged to rest well and take all your time off. As a team we rely on each other to do our various ministries, and we have high standards. We dream up new ideas all the time, and, if you’re coming on board, we can’t wait to hear yours.

Overview of Youth Ministry
We have two youth groups: Younger Youth (Yrs 6-8) and Older Youth (Yrs 9-13). Overlapping with the kids ministry we have an Inclusion Team, working appropriately with any young people who have additional needs.
Younger Youth meet during the 10.30am Sunday service for group time, Bible teaching, and a game.
Older Youth meet for fellowship after the 6:00pm service, and we strongly encourage them to be part of either the morning or evening service for their
Sunday teaching. A small but committed group also meets on Wednesday evenings.
We also hold two or three one-off seminars, prayer evenings or interviews per term, during the fellowship time.
A total of around 40 youth members attend church on Sundays, with varying attendance.
We run a Youth Weekend Away in collaboration with four other churches in January. We also run occasional parenting sessions or courses.
