Youth and Families Worker

  • Youth & Children
  • Inverness

Church of Scotland

As part of the ministry team, you will carry out, develop and support all aspects of our children’s, young people and
families’ work.

Inshes East Church is a congregation that serves a large community on the outskirts of Inverness, many of
whom we have no connection with. We also have a growing number of young families regularly worshipping
with us. We run a healthy Sunday school (Truthtrackers), and a small Youth Fellowship (IT), a weekly Toddlers’
group (FAB) and occasional Dad’s events are also run. The Kirk Session is keen to develop and expand our work
with children, young people and families and are seeking someone of God’s choosing to lead this work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work with and support existing youth and children’s activity leaders and develop a team for this work.
  • Leading the Youth Fellowship work including developing and mentoring the teenagers in our Church family.
  • Build relationships with the local community and community group, with a focus on families and young people.
  • Seek and develop opportunities for additional outreach.
  • Supporting families in our congregation and building relationships with them.
  • To continue and to develop the work in local schools and build trusted relationships.
  • To be a point of contact for youth and families’ ministry within the church and community.
  • To share in leading worship, particularly where families and young people attend.
  • To work with others in similar roles locally.

The successful candidate would be working with the Minister, with frequent contact and would also be
answerable to Kirk Session to whom they would report initially on a monthly basis.
