We are seeking a prayerful Team Vicar who, working with the Team Rector:
- will strengthen and develop a culture of discipleship and mission across all congregations and contexts.
- will be content to be a team leader in some contexts and a team member in others
- can work to see existing mission initiatives amongst children, young people and families flourish, including local schools, being attentive to the Growing Faith initiative.
- will actively be involved to better resource mission and ministry through helping to simplify governance and administration, including consideration of pastoral re-organisation.
- will seek to develop, with others, new worshipping contexts, especially in areas of new housing.
- can build confidence and strength in each of the churches and be at ease with down-to-earth north midlands communities.
- will bring a calm good humour to share the joys and sorrows of ordinary people.
The four Parishes that make up the East Scarsdale Team (Holy Cross, Upper Langwith; Holy Trinity, Shirebrook; St Luke’s Whaley Thorns; St Michael’s, Pleasley) are situated on the north-eastern edge of Derby Diocese, close to Mansfield in the neighbouring Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. With a rich industrial heritage and not far from the Peak District National Park, the area is ideally situated for exploring neighbouring towns, cities and countryside. Proximity to the M1 and A1 affords good communication.
The Parishes were constituted as a Team Ministry in 1994 and are currently resourced by a Team Rector and Team Vicar (this post) and a Curate.
The Rectory is a large 4-bedroomed house in Shirebrook, close to Holy Trinity Church.
