Children and Families Minister

The Leightonstone Churches

We are looking for someone who has a heart and passion for seeing the church grow younger and more diverse, ideally with experience in working with children and families and in building partnerships between local churches and their communities.   A passion for rural ministry would be an advantage.

We want the post-holder to build on existing ministries, support fellow ministers, and enable new worshipping communities to develop and thrive.

The post is open to both lay and ordained individuals, and will be licensed as a Licenced Lay Worker in the Diocese of Ely.

Our vision
Our vision is to celebrate our heritage while building our future, and our working model is to keep what’s already good whilst finding ways to work together on the things we can’t do alone.

This post will focus on our desire to work together to re-grow church for younger generations.

About us

North and south of the A14, at the very western edge of Ely Diocese, our two Benefices are very rural with dispersed populations yet in easy reach of towns such as Huntingdon, St Neots, and Kettering.

West Leightonstone consists of the parishes of Keyston, Brington, Bythorn, Catworth, Molesworth, Leighton Bromswold and Old Weston.

South Leightonstone are the parishes of Barham with Woolley, Spaldwick, Easton, Stow Longa, Covington, Tilbrook and Kimbolton.

We work with three primary schools, and an independent school which has both a Prep School and Secondary School.

Our Joint Council
On 1st July 2024, the Benefices of West and South Leightonstone created the Leightonstone Churches Joint Council taking responsibility for children and families ministry for our churches.

This area of work is recognised as our most important priority, and it is this priority that drove us to create the Joint Council. Within that partnership the successful candidate will be a leader and enabler within the ministry team and our church communities.

The Ministry Team

The team is led by the Revd Canon Philip Howson, and you can read about them here.

Benefits of the Post

The post would be employed for 35 hours p/w and with a starting salary of £32,000, a company pension, 25 days annual leave, and flexible working.
