The Head of the Office of the Bishop of Bristol is a key person in providing support to the Bishop of Bristol’s local and national ministry, and also in setting the culture, atmosphere and purpose of the Bishop’s Office.

The Person

The Head of the Office of the Bishop of Bristol will need a rare combination of hospitality and tender-heartedness combined with efficiency and clarity of mind. They will have first sight of confidential matters, nationally important issues and pastoral questions, triaging these where appropriate and offering intelligent administrative support to the Bishops. They will also provide support and guidance to the Bishop of Swindon’s Executive Assistant as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

The efficient leadership of the Bishop’s Office and site, offering welcome to visitors, overseeing contractors and keeping on top of a busy workload
Management of correspondence, liaising as appropriate with the Chaplain, the office of the Bishop of Swindon and other diocesan staff, using judgement and discretion in the process
The co-ordination of the Bishop’s complex diary and travel arrangements and prioritising various sometimes conflicting calls on her time
Salary: Up to £45,000

Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time)
