Tearfund is a Christian charity with a vision to see people freed from poverty, living transformed lives, and reaching their God-given potential.

We are seeking a visionary and experienced global Head of People to join the Senior Management Team for our People and Culture Group. This role offers a unique opportunity for a transformational leader to shape and lead our global HR function, ensuring Tearfund can effectively recruit, deploy, manage, retain, and develop its staff to achieve our vision and goals.

The role is responsible for leading and managing the global People team. You will develop and implement strategic and operational People services across Tearfund’s international operations and contribute to the People and Culture strategy, policy development, and practice implementation.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in strategic and operational HR, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Experience in empowering the global People team to deliver a consistent HR experience across our organisation
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate, and create an inclusive team environment
  • Cultural intelligence and the ability to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural settings
  • A track record of developing and implementing HR strategies that align with organisational goals
  • Experience in managing complex employee relations issues and organisational change
  • Proven ability to identify and strive for innovations that simplify and harmonise HR practices, processes, standards using best practice tools and systems
  • Experience managing ambiguity and change, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation

If you are passionate about using your HR expertise to make a difference in the lives of those affected by poverty, we’d love to hear from you!

We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and those from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds (in our UK workforce) as these groups are currently under-represented at Tearfund.

This role is eligible for hybrid working and you will be required to work from a designated Tearfund office and from your home by agreement with the line manager.
