Diocesan Safeguarding Support Officer – Advice & Guidance

Diocese of Gloucester

The Diocese of Gloucester is seeking to recruit a Safeguarding Support Officer to work as a valued team member with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team. We are a supportive, busy and hardworking team, providing safeguarding casework support, advice/guidance and training to all parishes and worshipping communities in the Diocese.

Our successful candidate will work closely with the Safeguarding Manager and Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, providing timely and high-quality advice/guidance and support to anyone seeking help from the team. This post will suit a professional from a range of backgrounds (such as education, health, police and social care) with relevant safeguarding experience, who is confident working with sensitive/complex subject matter and vulnerable groups. This includes triaging concerns as well as visiting parishes and other settings to proactively support and advise on safeguarding matters in their context.

This new role will be a busy and dynamic one, with plenty of practical opportunities for the post holder to get involved with supporting the delivery of high-quality safeguarding support, in line with national Church of England policies, practice guidance and ongoing developments. It is essential that the potential post holder is friendly, approachable and able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills.

The Diocese of Gloucester is a great place to work, offering benefits such as 27 days annual leave, a non-contributory pension scheme, and an employee assistance programme available to staff and their families.

This role can be a hybrid arrangement if preferred, with a minimum of 2 days in the office required.  The exact working days and hours of this role are flexible and we would agree these with the successful candidate.

For an informal conversation about the role, please either contact us by email to recruitment@glosdioc.org.uk or by calling Brett Riches, Safeguarding Manager, on 01452 835516.  To apply, please complete the application form and return to recruitment@glosdioc.org.uk CVs are not accepted.
