Priest in Charge

Diocese of Gloucester

The Bishop of Gloucester seeks to appoint a Priest in Charge of of Bourton on the Water with Clapton and The Rissingtons, an active rural benefice set in one of the most beautiful parts of the North Cotswolds. The Benefice comprises 6 villages with 5 well-maintained and cared for church buildings (including the beautifully reordered church of St Lawrence in Bourton).

The parishes are seeking a mission minded priest who will lead with energy, imagination and sensitivity as they seek to find new ways of reaching out with the love of Christ to those not already part of the worshipping community, not least amongst the many young families in the two largest villages of Bourton and Upper Rissington (with populations of c 4200 and 2400 respectively).

The right candidate will need to be creative and strategic, committed to supporting ministry in schools (including the local secondary school), and have a commitment to working collaboratively, both locally and with colleagues across the Deanery which is currently engaged in a deanery strategic planning process.

For an informal discussion about the role contact the Archdeacon of Cheltenham, the Ven Phil Andrew, on 07498 052045.

Interviews: Tuesday 1 October 2024
