Role Overview and Duties

  • A member of the Mission and Ministry Support Team taking responsibility for all aspects of vocations.
  • Helping the Diocese to develop a strategy for vocations that reflects the diversity of our Diocese and the strengths and challenges of the Church in this generation.
  • Encouraging and developing good practice in vocational work across the Diocese of Bristol.

The Organisation:

The Diocese of Bristol is the part of the Church of England that serves Bristol and Swindon. There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy.  In addition, around 15,000 children and young people attend our 72 church schools.

This is an exciting time within the Diocese as we are inspired by a fresh vision to encourage and resource church and community through a collaborative programme called Transforming Church. Together. We want to understand what we do well, what we can change for the better and how to create a positive way forward together.

Desired Skills and Experience:

The Adviser for Ordinands and Vocations will oversee the provision of high quality vocational discernment and recruitment for both lay and ordained ministry. S/he will encourage an increase in the quality, quantity and diversity of candidates and promote a broad culture of vocation in the Diocese.

Hours:    35 hours (Full Time)

Salary:    £45,000 per annum

Location:   Located at our Diocesan office in Stoke Gifford with an opportunity to explore hybrid working arrangements.

Duration:   Permanent.
